Galway Film Fleadh

I have been away on my travels to Ireland to the Galway Film Fleadh, where Wash Club a film I worked on as a unit stills photographer was screened with the creative England shorts!

It was great to see one of my Unit stills used in the Film Fleadh Brochure, And to see a great response to the film!

It was a lot of fun, I travelled with a few friends and we watched a lot of great films including Kedi a documentary about Cats in Istanbul, and Christopher Nolan's new film Dunkirk. We went to some wonderful restaurants and bars and met lots of lovely new people.

Keep an eye out for the next blog about my trip to Barcelona!

Thanks

Exhibited work

Hello

Its been quiet on the blog front of the website recently but I’ve been working away behind the scenes. My most recent piece of work was a personal project, which I created to be exhibited in an exhibition!

This Piece of work explored the theme of Grief and the need for hope, It was created in an expansive forest, with cinematic lighting, it’s very exciting to create a new world through photography. I wanted the image to have a sci-fi element to it, with a sense of loneliness and darkness but with a glimmer of hope!

The work was exhibited at the Nottingham photo parlour and had its own Wall to fit the two A1 framed prints, its such a great feeling to have your work displayed for everyone to see and the response and support was amazing!

Photo taken on an Iphone 6 so not great quality!

Fashion Photography

I have recently been working with the amazing make up artist and creative director: Madz Abbasi, find her on instagram at  @lylikecake. We have been creating two fashion shoots with two models: Phoebe Townsend and Naomi.

For the first Fashion shoot we shot in two locations in Nottingham city centre, an independent clothing shop called COW, and a room in Rough trade which had an amazing sculpture within it. Madz began by creating hair, make up and outfits for Naomi, then we set off to our locations to do our photography shoots. We had the lovely Amy Sykes as a photography assistant on this shoot helping bounce light with reflectors and snapping some BTS shots. Both locations gave us a lot to work with to create some interesting shots and we really enjoyed ourselfs creating them. So thank you to COW and Rough Trade!

Rough trade had a beautiful sculpture in it, which we incorporated into our shots as Naomi did some beautiful ballet poses. Photo Credit: Amy Sykes

Fashion shoot two arrived and we had two locations one was  an abandoned car park and one was a multi-storey car park, Today the weather was on our side, but time was not! We had three hours to shoot and create two looks the pressure was on. So again Madz created the make up, hair and outfit for Phoebe, and we were off to shoot in the abandoned car park it had some beautiful buildings  and green shrubbery in the background, which worked well with our fashion theme.

We got our shots and moved onto the next look, and headed off to the multi-storey car park where we had a lot of fun dancing away on the top floor to capture the shots!

Both shoots were so much fun and it was great to collaborate with so many creative people.

Thanks so much to

Street Portraits

I decided I was going to create a series of street portraits approaching strangers in the streets whom I thought would be interesting to photograph.  This project is so much fun, I decided to do it with a theme to gain more conversation with the subjects and to find out a little about these strangers, my theme is

“If you could have a superpower what would it be?”

Some of the responses were so interesting not everyone wanted to fly or have x-ray vision, which are cool powers don’t get me wrong, but a lot of people would of used their powers for good to make the world a better place for everyone!

My favourite response was from this lovely Gentleman:

whom responded with “I would share the power to make us all Equal in the world, So there would be no war, no fighting for what others have, there would be peace and everyone would be happy.”

These responses inspired me to shoot more street portraits and make this an on going project to find a little good in the world!
